SHORT STAGE DESCRIPTION

Transfer by train from Bolzano to Dobbiaco, where the stage starts (Km 0). From Dobbiaco we continue into the Valle di Landro, surrounded by the majestic and fascinating Dolomite rock faces rising to the sky. You reach Cimabanche, the border between the provinces of Bolzano and Belluno, passing by Cortina d’Ampezzo, the fashionable winter sports city and site of numerous international Alpine skiing competitions. Continue uphill to Passo Tre Croci, reaching Misurina and its lake, taking the road to Rifugio Auronzo. From Lake Antorno, the next 5.5 kilometres and 431 metres of climbing take the group to the Auronzo Refuge, timing their performance. Once at the refuge, they will enjoy the breathtaking Dolomite panorama that the location offers. The ascent of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, with the finish line at the rifugio Auronzo, has been a memorable epilogue for a large number of Giro d’Italia stages thanks to the grandeur̀ of the scenery offered. A long descent follows. At Carbonin you return to the Landro Valley and after only 13 kilometers you are back in Dobbiaco for the end of the stage. The wayback to Bolzano is by train like in the previous one.
