Widmann and Jedelhauser are the winners of the 49th edition
The 49th edition of the Giro delle Dolomiti concluded with victories for the two favorites: South Tyrolean Georg Widmann and Germany’s Julia Jedelhauser also triumphed in the fifth and final stage, which took them to the Salto plateau, securing their overall victory in the cycling event. “The climbs were exhausting,” said the cyclist from Termeno, who declared himself fully satisfied with the week, adding that if anyone had told him before the start that he would win all five stages, he wouldn’t have believed them. “You can never let your guard down: Ralph (Ziegaus, Editor’s Note) kept me pushing hard all week.” Germany’s Ralph Ziegaus secured second place in the general classification, finishing behind Widmann over the 5 days. In the women’s category, Julia Jedelhauser’s dominance continued on the final day. Only 4 men reached the arrival faster than the cyclist from Allgäu, who finished more than 6 minutes ahead of South Tyrolean Julia Tanner (Egna). “In every stage, I was 3 or 4 minutes faster than the times my coach had predicted,” the winner joyfully commented on her triumph. The winner, celebrating her second triumph at the GdD after her 2024 victory, highly appreciates the event’s formula: races, beautiful landscapes, “there is something for everyone.” Widmann also praised “the atmosphere and the format of the event” and, thanks to the excellent organization, even felt “a bit of the Tour de France atmosphere.”

Registration at the GdD 2026 is open!
There is no question that the Giro delle Dolomiti is an iconic event. After all, its 49th edition is just around the corner. The ASD Giro delle Dolomiti association, which has been organising this event for almost half a century now, was founded in the 1970s and has welcomed countless cyclists from near and far. And it has lost none of its charm over the decades, because the format of this cycling tour is unique: except for one timed mountain time trial per stage, in which the overall winners are determined, most of the route is always cycled at a leisurely pace, allowing participants from all over the world to soak up the breathtaking panorama of the Dolomites in the best possible way. This will also be the case for the 49th edition, which will take place from Monday, 13 July to Friday, 17 July, 2026 with his logistical centre located at the Bolzano Exhibition Centre. Here the new stages: The field of participants will start on Monday with a new stage compared to last year. The route will then take them from Bolzano via Prato Isarco and Tires to the Passi Nigra and Costalunga (stage 1). Under the idyllic Catinaccio and the massive Latemar, past the bright green Lake Carezza – these destinations are among the most popular tourist attractions in South Tyrol. The section from San Cipriano to the Passo Nirgi will be timed, with the stage covering a total of 78.3 km and 1,646 metres of elevation gain. The Sellaronda (stage 2) is an essential part of the Giro delle Dolomiti. It takes place on Tuesday and is also the longest and steepest stage of the 49th edition. Covering 107 km and 3,102 m of el.gain, it runs counter-clockwise around the Sella massif. The start and finish are in Ponte Gardena, and 4 passes are tackled: the Passo Sella, the Passo Pordoi, the Passo Campolongo and the Passo Gardena, which is also the finish of the time trial, which starts in Colfosco. >>
The third stage on Wednesday is something very special. On the one hand, it leads to the Renon (stage 3), a destination that has not been tackled very often in recent years. On the other hand, it is 20.5 km long and has an elevation gain of 948 m.. The start is in Bolzano, the finish is in Collalbo, and the mountain time trial climbs on the section between Rencio and “Weber im Moos”. The fourth stage leads to South Tyrol’s neighbouring provinces of Trentino and Belluno. The stage starts in Predazzo in the Fiemme Valley, from where the Passo Rolle, Passo Valles and Passo San Pellegrino will be tackled. The route will take cyclists through the Pala Group (stage 4), the largest mountain range in the Dolomites. This stage covers a distance of 85.5 kilometres with 2,481 metres of elevation gain, and the time trial section is between Bellamonte and Passo Valles. The 49th GdD will once again conclude on the Salto (stage 5). On Friday, the route will take riders to the high plateau of San Genesio, but this time from the other side. After starting in Bolzano, the route leads to Terlano and from there via Meltina to the grass-green plateau with its lush meadows and larch forests. The mountain time trial climbs between Terlano and Frassineto. The stage is 51.3 km long in total and has an elevation gain of 1,336 m. After this stage, the big closing ceremony with the award presentation will take place at the Bolzano Fiera.
E-bikes are also permitted at this year’s event
Due to numerous requests, we have decided to allow e-bikes at this year’s event. Each participant must ensure that their bicycle is fully functional and in perfect condition at all times, and that it does not pose any danger to themselves or to third parties, particularly with regard to the brakes and other safety-related components. E-bike riders, like all other participants, must submit a sports medical certificate. The organiser points out that e-bikes will be timed on a separate list and will not be included in the road bike classification.

The couple Michael e Janine Meyer (GER) win the Giro delle Dolomiti 2025
The renowned South Tyrolean cycling event ended with the victory of Michael and Janine Meyer from Cologne, Germany. Janine Meyer’s victory was never in thread, not even in the final stage to the Alpe di Siusi, while in the men’s field the challenge between Michael Meyer and South Tyrolean Georg Widmann continued. It was the German rider who came out on top in the general classification with only a four-second (!) lead over Widmann. Austrian Andreas Crivellin came third. In the women’s field, however, Janine Meyer left no room for doubt. Julia Jedelhauser, the defending champion, finished in second place. Third place went to Carmen Moser, the South Tyrolean from Val Sarentino.

New TEAM category
This year for the first time, a team ranking has been established for the categories: Men, Women and mixed teams. In the mixed team, female athletes must make up half the team. Each team of 4 or more members will automatically participate in the team ranking, where the times of the 3 fastest members of each team will be added together. This determines the daily winner and the overall winner at the end of the event. To be authorized to start as a team, the team leader must deposit the team name and the name of at least 4 cyclists (either by sending us an email or by showing up at the Fair at the race office). In exceptional cases, a team may start with 3 runners. There are no age categories. All members of a team are registered also in the individual ranking.
In the individual ranking, prizes will be awarded to the top 3 Overall Men and Women, the first in the Age Factor – category > the Oldest and Youngest participant and the top 3 in each age group category:
– Men: M1 18-34 years, M2 35-42 years, M3 43-48 years, M4 49-54 years, M5 55-60 years, M6 61-65, Men OVER 66

The 47th GIRO DELLE DOLOMITI officially presented in Bolzano
One of the largest and most traditional cycling events in South Tyrol is the Giro delle Dolomiti. The 47th edition, which will take place from July 22nd to 26th, the new event jersey (see photo) and the new 2024 graphics were presented to the public today at a press conference at the Hotel Luna Mondschein in Bolzano. In just over a month’s time, this year’s Giro delle Dolomiti will get underway in Bolzano. With a total length of 484 km and a whopping 10,488 m of altitude divided into 5 different stages, the Giro delle Dolomiti once again offers the opportunity to get to know and enjoy different parts of South Tyrol. The timed “Crono” sections have a length of 33.6 km and 2655 m difference in altitude. The logistical center of the entire Giro delle Dolomiti is once again the Fiera Bolzano.
Bettina Ravanelli has been President of the non-profit organization ASD Giro delle Dolomiti for three years. She was also in charge of the press conference at the Hotel Luna Mondschein in Bolzano’s old town. “I can only repeat myself year after year: The special thing about the Giro delle Dolomiti is its formula. Unlike other cycling events, it stands for a mix of entertainment and competition,” emphasized Ravanelli at the start of the media event. “The majority of the individual tours are completed in a group at a controlled pace, soaking up the unique landscape. Only on the timed sections will the riders pedal at full throttle, and it is on these sections that the overall winners will ultimately be determined.”

Even for the next edition, The GdD has been confirmed “Green Event”
This label, recognised by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, has a great value for the event, which is celebrating the 46° edition. The Giro delle Dolomiti is a cycle-touristic event whose goal is promoting the Dolomites and its surrounding through sport, without forgetting how import is keeping preserving the fragile aspect of Dolomites. For this reason, the organising committee “ASD Giro delle Dolomiti” have been involving even more deeply with local entrepreneurships. They give their contribution for the starting package and trophies, local food is served at the feeding point during stages, local bike hotels are partner of the event. Last but not least a recycling collection is done in order to raise awareness of participants and all the accompanies people.
During the 2022 edition, dishes, glasses and cutleries made of cellulose will be only used thanks to a new partnership with Greengate. Another great improvement for the event, which underline its green aspect. The GdD got the Patronage by Fondazione Dolomiti UNESCO
The evaluation criteria have recognised that the Giro delle Dolomiti strongly involved the entire dolomites territory, which was assigned to World Heritage List of UNESCO in 2009. Not only does it runs up and down the Dolomites but it also contributes to the protection and promotion of a sustainable tourism in every single stages involved by Giro delle Dolomiti. The event is also recognised by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano as a Green Event: plastic products are barely used; local companies give their contributions for the starting package and trophies. Furthermore e-vehicles are engaged in order to diminish the Co2 production and any type of acoustic pollution is also avoided in order to preserve dolomites flora and fauna. Participants from all around the world are aware of Giro delle Dolomiti goals: through social media communications, newsletters and website they are engaged and can give their tips for improving any single aspect.

Medals and plaques provided by LAAS MARBLE for all winners
Medals and marble plaques provided by Laas marble will be awarded this year to the overall winners and the winners of the Team Corporate classification. Since the Giro delle Dolomiti stops in Lasa (Vinschgau/Venosta) this year on the occasion of its 2nd stage, they thought it more than appropriate at Lasa Marble to present a very special prize to the best cyclists of the Giro delle Dolomiti. Whoever wins in Laas does not win a precious metal, but the most precious marble in the world, our internationally renowned Laas marble. For the trophies, we deliberately chose not to use pure white marble, because the laser engraving of the graphics by Luca Gransinigh is much more effective on our slightly grey clouded marble. Since sustainability is also held high at the Giro, the medals were cut from the drill cores for the test drilling in the quarry, i.e. from a material that is otherwise not recycled and which in this way finds a nice, sustainable use. The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is an eye-catching landscape steeped in legend and shaped by the contrast between Alpine-peak formations and Mediterranean wine country.
