This stage follows the Great Dolomite Road, which connects the Val d´Adige Valley with the Val Pusteria Valley. It starts in Cortina. After crossing the river, the climb to the Falzarego Pass begins. In Pocol, the road branches off toward the Giau Pass, where the time trial up to the summit begins. After reaching the top, you plunge into the descent toward Colle Santa Lucia and rejoin the Great Dolomite Road in Andraz. Once in Arabba, the ascent to the Pordoi Pass begins, which poses no particular challenges for the cyclists. The descent to Canazei is pure enjoyment, followed by a ride down the valley through the Fassa Valley to Vigo di Fassa. Here, the final few meters of elevation gain up to the Costalunga Pass await. From the summit, a smooth, flowing ride takes you through the Ega Valley to Cardano/Kardaun, from where the peloton is guided to the trade fair in Bolzano city.
