SHORT STAGE DESCRIPTION

The destination of stage 2 is the Stelvio Pass, a “must-have” for every ambitious road cyclist. It begins in Prad in the Vinschgau Valley with a controlled ride down the valley to the village of Gomagoi. Here, the time trial starts with timing for the traffic-free climb up to the Stelvio Pass: finally, you can enjoy the legendary 48 hairpin turns all the way to the top of the pass! After crossing the finish line at the summit, the route continues to the Umbrail Pass (Giogo di S. Maria), where you cross into Switzerland. On Swiss territory, you first ride across vast alpine meadows and then descend steeply to Santa Maria. Once you reach Müstair, you cross back into Italy. As soon as the fortified city walls of Glurns/Glorenza come into view, you are almost at the finish line. We ride through the smallest town in South Tyrol to the festival grounds, where lunch will be served to everyone in the shade of the fortified city wall. Anyone who booked the bus (round trip) during registration can then comfortably take it back to Bolzano city.
