SHORT STAGE DESCRIPTION
As usual, the Sellaronda starts in Ponte Gardena, at the entrance to the Gardena Valley. This means fewer kilometers and more fun. After a short climb, we ride gently uphill through Val Gardena to Ortisei, then pass through the villages of Santa Cristina and Selva before beginning the climb to the four passes. At the Plan de Gralba junction, we tackle the 5.3 km ascent to the Sella Pass. Once at the top, we descend to Pian de Schiavaneis, where the climb to the Pordoi Pass begins, followed by a smooth 9.5 km descent to Arabba. Those who aren’t pushing themselves too hard can enjoy glimpses of the Marmolada and the Ampezzo Dolomites. In Reba — the Ladin name for Arabba — it’s time to get back in the saddle and tackle the 285 meters of elevation gain up to the Campolongo Pass. At the refreshment point at the top, you can refuel and catch your breath. The subsequent descent to Corvara shouldn’t be taken too quickly, so as to save your legs — after 9 km, in Colfosco, the timed section to the Gardena Pass begins. Once you reach the summit, a long descent to Selva Gardena awaits. You’ll pedal leisurely at the foot of the Sella massif, with Sassolungo and Sassopiatto in sight. Those who took part in the 2025 Giro will be able to picture the Alpe di Siusi behind them. At the end of the long descent, a well-deserved lunch awaits the cyclists in Selva Gardena. Afterwards, refueled, we leave the valley toward Pontives and then continue on a fast descent back to Ponte Gardena.
