SHORT STAGE DESCRIPTION

The first stage, starting at 9:00 a.m. from Bolzano, begins with an easy 8 km warm-up ride to Prato Isarco. The climb toward Castelrotto starts in Prato Isarco. After a few kilometers, we turn right to continue in the direction of Prösels/Presule and Tires. After 26 km, we reach Tires and, without much effort, continue toward San Cipriano. Here, at the valley station of the Catinaccio cable car, the timed section to Passo Nigra begins. The 7 km and 542 meters of elevation gain, mostly through the forest, should not be underestimated, as the road surprises riders with long gradients of up to 13%. After the finish line, a long flat stretch and a stunning mountain panorama await us, as the Catinaccio reveals its most beautiful side. At Passo di Costalunga, you can replenish your energy at the refreshment station. Refreshed, you set off on the 26 km descent — past the emerald-green Lake Carezza — through the Eggental Valley, almost all the way to Bolzano. Protected by the support vehicles, this becomes a true celebration of road cycling. At the finish line at Fiera Bolzano, a lunch of regional specialties awaits you.
