Giro delle Dolomiti 2019

43. Giro delle Dolomiti

The 43rd edition will take us to a mix of peaks and valleys such as the Valparola, Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Marmolada and other climbs some of your will certainly remember as memorable Giro d'Italia climbs. However, to preserve our "ambiente with a strong personal touch", we cannot take more then 600 daily participants (residents in the provinces of Trento, Bolzano and Belluno and competitors of more 10 years in the Giro delle Dolomiti are considered in addition of the limit of 600 daily.) Surely, by introducing this cap, the Giro delle Dolomiti, and that is you, will only gain further in quality, safety and uniqueness. Our Giro delle Dolomiti is a must-do for every cyclist who loves the Dolomites.

Brochure 2019

  • Stage 1 | Ritten Renon

    21 July - 1211 m | 51,6 km
    Start at 09:00 a.m.

Results Stage 1 | Ritten Renon
    Short stage description

The first stage leads after a short warm-up through the city of Bolzano via the outskirts of Rencio to Ritten-Renon. At Rencio we start with the timed stretch and will wind itself up the many beautiful turns midst of wine grapes and apple trees. We are sure you will be able to admire the beautiful view of the Dolomites before cycling back to Bolzano via a different route from the planned one (due to important roadworks) but interesting at the same.

  • Stage 2 | Würzjoch / Passo delle Erbe

    22 July - 1920 m | 133,5 km
    Start at 08:00 a.m.

Results Stage 2 | Würzjoch / Passo delle Erbe
    Short stage description

We had the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of the Alps climbing up the Passo delle Erbe. We believe probably the most beautiful pass of the Dolomites. And we will have approached the pass via the valley of Funes, an authentic village which kept its historic beauty intact. A steep ascent to the start of the timed stretch will make us tired but the timed stretch will be home turf for many speeders because its an easy up and down. The sight at the top is breathtaking and care is needed going downhill to Luson and finally Bolzano.

  • Stage 3 | Passo Fedaia

    23 July - 2938 m | 176,3 km
    Start at 08:00 a.m.

Results Stage 3 | Passo Fedaia
    Short stage description

The first time for the Giro delle Dolomiti, the longest stage, the highest altitude. After the start in Bolzano we cycle through the Val Gardena, Alpine World Cup site, to the Passo Sella - many times done by the Giro d’Italia. From there you get a good view of the Marmolada glacier, our arrival of the timed stretch. We will start in Alba di Canazei with the timing and for about 8km you will be able to improve your overall standing. Lunching in Moena we need to do another 60km to arrive to Bolzano. We guarantee you can rest the day after...

  • Stage 4 | Passo Valparola

    25 July - 2161 m | 126,3 km
    Start at 09:00 a.m.

Results Stage 4 | Passo Valparola
    Short stage description

An unusual starting point is Brunico. An hour bus/car ride to Brunico will take us to the starting point in a small town right next to the Dolomites. We will start to meet them after having pedalled through the valley of Badia for about 30km. A steady but certainly not difficult climb will be made easy by the company of another 599 fellow cyclists. In San Cassiano we start the timed climb to Passo Valparola, after which we descend to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the pearl of the Dolomites, then to the peak of Tre Croci (Three Crosses) for lunch and finally to Brunico. A memorable stage.

  • Stage 5 | Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi

    26 July - 1596 m | 80,1 km
    Start at 08:00 a.m.

Results Stage 5 | Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi
    Short stage description

After 4 days of cycling we will cycle all the way with our new friends to Ponte Gardena from where the climb will start to Castelrotto and finally to Siusi, where the timed stretch starts. In the middle of wonderful trees, we overcome 2.000 meters until the arrival at the cableway. We come back to Bolzano crossing Ponte Gardena and prepare us for the last attack to the ranking.

  • Stage 6 | Team Crono

    27 July - 360 m | 86,2 km
Start at 09:00 a.m. from Fiera Messe Bozen

Results Stage 6 | Team Crono
    Short stage description

The final stage does not represent any particular difficulties. This famous stretch of wine road will host our Group Crono event. Riding eventually through the Adige valley we are soon back to Bolzano. This final stage is a glorious end to a fantastic week. Arrivederci in 2020.
