The ASD Giro delle Dolomiti is the organizer of the 48th GIRO DELLE DOLOMITI, an international road cycling event for amateur cyclists. One of a kind, it offers indelible memories and new friendships in a relaxing and at times competitive environment with a limited number of participants on spectacular roads in the unique UNESCO World Heritage, area of the Dolomites. The headquarter of the event is in Bolzano city (South Tyrol, northern Italy).
Ways of participating in the GdD:
- Giro delle Dolomiti: all 5 stages from 21st – 25th July, 2025
- Single stage/s: any single stage you want
The participation at the Giro delle Dolomiti (GdD) is open to all amateur cyclists between 18 and 75 years old, members of ACSI, F.C.I (Italian Cycling Federation) or other Italian promotional sport organizations, as well as foreign cycling amateurs with a for 2025 valid UCI license issued by the National Cycling Federation.
Cyclists from abroad must either have a UCI license valid for the current year, issued by their National Cycling Federation, or, alternatively, they must present us a sports medical certificate (according to article 4 of DM 164/24.4.2013) confirming the participant’s suitability for racing cycling and also valid for the duration of the GdD. Participation is also open to members of those organizations that have signed an agreement with the FCI/UCI for the current year and to those club members who can present a Bike Card together with their club ID card.
Professional and/or elite riders are admitted exclusively for promotional purposes and will not appear in the final ranking; they may not influence the event or the result through their active participation.
The form for issuing the sports medical certificate can be downloaded from the website www.girodolomiti.com in Italian, German and English language (> section “Press&Docs” ).
Registrations can be done Online from November 1st, 2025, visiting www.girodolomiti.com. Any transfer fees are to be borne by the participant. Starting from Sunday, July 20th, 2025 – 1:00 p.m. you can also register personally at the race office at FieraBolzano (Pad. B). If a maximum of 500 registrations are reached for each individual stage, only athletes from the Dolomites regions of Belluno, Trento and Bolzano and those who have competed in 10 or more GdD- editions will be guaranteed participation.
Every participant must have accident and liability insurance. You can sign an accident and liability insurance policy when registering online. However, the ASD Giro delle Dolomiti declines any responsibility for the insurance coverage/benefits of the policy. It is mandatory to mount the chip on the bike for checks and time measurements – this can be rented at the BolzanoFair against a deposit. By registering, participants confirm that they have read the regulations and accept them without reservation. This declaration is equivalent to a self-declaration, in accordance with and for the purposes of Presidential Decree no. 445 of 28 December 2000. Anyone providing false information will be punished according to the Italian Penal Code and special laws.
Since the GdD involves cycling in a single large group in a friendly atmosphere, each participant will need to have a certain level of athletic preparation and performance. An endurance and sporty riding style and the ability to ride a longer distance at a moderate pace are ideal. On the flat, a speed of between 25 and 28 km/h is driven, and the climbing rate should be between 450 and 600 m/h. Experience in group riding is helpful. The broom wagon (fine gara) marks the end of the race. Any participant who rides behind this vehicle at any time is considered to no longer be in the race and rides at their own risk and without an escort. They can return to the group as soon as they overtake the broom wagon again. The broom wagon sticks exactly to the specified passage times.
The organization reserves the right to set gates, checkpoints along the route which will be communicated in good time and announced on the official information channels. Anyone who does not reach the checkpoints within the time specified can continue on the broom wagon (scopa), which will take them to the nearest refreshment point to rejoin the group and then continue with them. After the specified time limits have expired, no further security, refreshment or support services will be provided in case you continue on your own (in the area between the start and the respective checkpoint).
