This year we will have a total of 10 timed stretches, a totally new route in the Brenta Dolomites next to the Lake of Garda, we will do some same routes as the Giro d’Italia, launch a few new climbs, add to an already unique combination of timed and controlled speed sections even more fun. 25 July – 1659 m | 90,8 km | h 9:00
Crono Fondo – Palade | 11,7 km • 523 m • 4,5%

SHORT STAGE DESCRIPTION

It’s our first day together and even though the climb to the Mendel Pass is of particular beauty and therefore often the timed stretch for the Giro delle Dolomiti and the Tour of the Alps and the Giro d’Italia, we thought it would be too early to measure our physical condition and decided to do a long but less steep climb from Fondo to the Palade Pass on the frontier between Alto Adige Südtirol and the Province of Trento. Also, the Tour of the Alps did the same stretch last year, we will let you know how long it took them :-). After regrouping on the Pass we cycle through the Adige valley back to Bolzano for Lunch.

After the base of the norwegian alpine ski team of Andalo and the lake of Molveno we’ll find our first stop, after a quick Giro Sprint, in Ponte di Rendena. Then we cycle to Pinzolo, the base of the summer camps of several Serie A football teams from where the climb to Madonna di Campiglio, a famous ski resort in the Brenta Dolomites, starts. Via the Val di Sole and then the Val di Non it’s all downhill to Mezzocorona.

From Bolzano we climb to Tiers then to Saint Cyprian from where the time stretched part begins. And it’s the beginning which is very tough. But earn for yourself. At the end of the stage we have the Giro Sprint along beautiful turns up to Gummer from where the return to Bolzano goes on secondary roads in midst of dense woods.

Piazza Fiera 1

39100 Bolzano

Opening hours of the Main Office:

Saturday 24 July and Wednesday 28 July 2021 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

During the stages, the Office will be open from one hour before departure and on the return from the stage.

In all stages there are one or more free-speed route sections (including Giro Sprints) with time trial detection. Absolute and category rankings will be exhibited at the Fair and on www.girodolomiti.com.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make the appropriate variants to the routes in case of situations that could compromise the safety of the participants and the success of the event.

Timed stretch:

In absent traffic conditions, competitors’ times are detected by a chip and fall within the event ranking. Single stages are not included in the ranking.

Giro Sprint

It is a challenge on a 2 km stretch of route, uphill. Time will always be detected via chip and once all athletes pass through, the best male and female performance will be announced. The interested parties will be sent notice to collect the prize once they return to the Fair in Bolzano

Cyclists will be able to join groups of at least 4 and maximum 5 members each, even mixed with the teams to which they belong and sex, perhaps with other cyclists known since the beginning of the Giro! The travel time will be calculated on the fourth competitor of the team that will pass on the finish line; it is permissible to take advantage of the trail. Specific stopwatch bikes or extension cords mounted on the handlebars are not allowed. From Saturday 24 July until 18:00 on Friday 30 July, competitors will be able to register their teams at the Fair on a special panel.

The time detected will not affect the timing of the general classification but participating in Team Crono is a necessary condition to validate your position in the ranking.

Giro Corporate

Designed to stimulate networking and team building, the “Corporate” ranking is aimed at companies and concerns only the last stage, team Crono.

By enrolling one or more teams of at least 4 and maximum 5 participants, recognizable under a single organization and /or team name, you are part of the dedicated ranking and award ceremony of the top 3 teams participating in Team Crono.

By communicating that you want to participate as a company team, a 10% discount code will be provided upon verification of the athlete’s connection with the Company.

The competitors must pass through the carpets of the two control points situated along the route, or they will be disqualified. The use of a bicycle fitted with any electronic and/or any electric device to aid or boost performance is expressly prohibited.
